June is Men’s Health Month
In the month of June, we celebrate the men in our lives on Father’s Day. The month of June is dedicated to highlighting health issues that men face, as well as promoting early detection and treatment of disease among men. Men’s health issues don’t just affect men. They have a significant impact on everyone around them. Because women typically pay better attention to their health than men, they can help men to adopt healthier habits.
Men’s mental health is one of the most overlooked areas of their well‑being. Many men carry silent burdens—stress, pressure, expectations as leaders of family, and other unspoken worries.
Ways Men Can Protect Their Mental Health
1. Stay Connected - Isolation increases stress. Join a men’s group or ministry.
Healthy connection builds resilience.
2. Pay Attention to Stress Signals – chronic irritability, trouble sleeping, chronic fatigue, and withdrawing from others. Noticing these signs early on helps prevent anxiety, depression, and burnout.
3. Move Your Body - physical activity reduces anxiety and boosts mood. Remember we talked about the natural high or “runners high” called endorphins. Even 20–30 minutes of walking, stretching, or yard work can promote feelings of pleasure and calm.
4. Take Breaks Without Guilt - Rest is biblical. Jesus Himself stepped away to pray, recharge, and breathe. So take short breaks during the day. Engage in something relaxing and that you enjoy. Pray for comfort, calm, and peace.
Men do not have to carry everything alone. Feeling overwhelmed is not weakness, and strength is knowing that you need support with your mental health.
Praying for *Mind Body Spiritual* Wellness to you,
