April 2026
April is National Stress Awareness Month. This month we focus on stress management for better mental and physical health. It is a time to pause and pay attention to the pressures that weigh on our minds, bodies and spirits. Stress is real – but so is God’s peace. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast all of our care upon him; for he cares for us.
God never intended for us to carry life’s burdens alone. Chronic stress can affect our sleep, our mood, our immune system, and our overall health. Have you heard the phrase “stress kills,” well it literally can. As a matter of fact, 75-90% of all illnesses are stress related. Being overly stressed for a long period can put our health at risk. Not only our physical, but also our mental health.
Signs that you are stressed: You might have difficulty concentrating, feelings of worry and fear, muscle tension, heart palpitations, sweaty palms, heart pounding, irritability toward others, and chronic fatigue.
Simple Ways to Reduce Stress:
Pause for prayer throughout the day – God wants for us to give Him our worries, and the more we connect with him, the more our faith in Him will increase.
Take a short walk when feeling stressed – movement helps release tension and clears the mind.
Stay connected – Talk to a trusted friend or family member, minister, or if needed, do not hesitate to seek professional help for additional support.
Set healthy boundaries – It’s okay to say no. Protect your peace and your energy.
Limit worry triggers – take a break from the news, social media posts about racism, politics, war, etc., and choose to disengage from draining conversations.
Stress is not a sign of weakness — it’s a sign that you’re human. But God has given us tools, support, and His presence to help you rise above it. This month, choose to be gentle with yourself. Choose rest. Choose peace. Choose to cast your cares on the One who cares for you deeply.
Praying for Mind, Body and Spiritual Wellness to you,
